Frosted
Glass
Creating frosted glass is
a simple project that can enhance the beauty of your windows, glass
doors, or glass cabinets. This technique adds warmth and style to any
décor.
The frosted glass project
requires that you must thoroughly clean the glass surface to be treated
prior to beginning the frosted glass process.
Mix a frosted glass frosting
formula with wallpaper paste, white powder paint pigment, water, and
acid free PVA glue. Mix all ingredients, except the glue until you have
a pudding texture for the frosted glass project. Once this texture is
achieved, add a drop of glue so that the mixture will adhere to the
glass.
Make your own stencil or
purchase one at your home improvement store. Place the stencil on the
glass, using painter's tape to secure it to the glass surface you will
use to create the frosted glass effect.
If you will be using more
than one color in the frosted glass project be sure to make the frosted
glass formula for each color you intend to use.
Using a stiff brush, begin
applying the frosted glass mixture over the stencil, dabbing the brush
into the areas that you are wanting to frost.
Continue in this manner until
all of the areas of the glass that you want to turn into frosted glass
have been coated.
If you desire a reverse frosted
glass effect use a stencil and apply the frosted glass mixture to the
outside edges of the stencil.
When complete remove the
stencil and allow to dry. Now apply a clear latex or acrylic coating
to protect your frosted glass project.
